Do's and Dont's

Do's

1. Make your personal timetable. Set your personal deadlines to one day prior than the actual deadline. It may seem obvious but it really helps in keeping you on track with every submission.

2. Ask a million questions. Clarify each and every question with your teachers. Do not be hesitant in asking the smallest questions as well. You should think that you are not losing anything by doing this so go forward and clear all queries.

3. Deadlines over perfectionism.  Yes, everyone wants their work to be perfect but what happens, in this case, is we tend to start the snowball effect. We tend to pill up our work with the intention of submitting a perfect work at the end (which never happens :) ).

4. Sleep for a minimum of 6 hours. Yes, you read that right. People will say that they have so much work that it is impossible to sleep for so long. It is one of the most underrated things. A good sleep and you can avoid all the doses of caffeine to keep you going.

5. Make use of the extras. Make use of places like peaceful libraries and student lounges, if available. It is important to find your own space to increase productivity.

Don'ts

1. Violate the smallest of deadlines. We usually tend to think that we can improve if we have one more day. This makes us plead for an extension which makes the teachers lose trust. Now you stand a risk of losing the opportunity to gain a possible extension for a major submission.

2. Take plagiarism lightly. It is not a new thing for any IBDP student but please give citations the highest priority. In short, stay away from committing this crime. Double check your citations at least, if not the content.

3. Be shy. Yes, no need to be shy when it comes to getting the work done. You should ask your teachers for possible after class lessons or maybe your friends who can help you out when you are stuck. You might not even realize how much your friends can help.

4. Submit a hoax document. Never submit a hoax document and assume that you will get through. Be truthful and you never know, you might as well get an extension. Trying to overcome the small deadlines by submitting a hoax document might put you in serious trouble someday.

5.  Overburden yourself.  There are many things that revolve around an IBDP student. It is important to make a rough plan to get an idea of how many things you are getting into.

Also, a personal suggestion, try not taking tuitions (until and unless it is very important). This is because you will mostly end up having very less personal time to study. You might as well increase your productivity by utilizing that time effectively.
